Painting Portraits in Pastel
With Lisa Ober

The Artist's Daughter by Lisa Ober

Amaze yourself and impress your friends! Realistic Portraits with Character.

Saturday & Sunday, October 21 & 22, 2017

Artist Lisa Ober, PSA, IAPS/MC, will be teaching a fun hands-on workshop enthusiastically sharing her approach to pastel painting. Lisa will guide students through step-by-step instruction using her portrait technique, from the first sketch to the finished portrait using a photo reference (provided). Short demonstrations followed by plenty of class work time make this class rewarding and informative. Lisa will discuss achieving a likeness and proportion, color selection, pastel application, adding depth and expression—everything you need to bring your portrait to life in a flattering way so your subject's best features are highlighted. Lisa will include special instruction on painting eyes which are crucial to a believable portrait. She will also share plenty of additional tidbits of pastel wisdom as students work through their respective portraits.

Attention:

For this class ONLY, the portrait subject is a special SURPRISE! It's a secret, but you won't want to miss this spectacular opportunity... once in a lifetime subject matter!

Have you always wanted to do a self-portrait, a portrait of your mom or dad, or just want to know how to flatter a friend or client? Whether you're new to pastels, portraiture, or have years of creative experience, you will learn to see people in a new way and pick up new techniques as Lisa shares the invaluable tips and techniques she has mastered through decades of professional portrait painting. Every student will have the opportunity to complete a portrait with Lisa's personal guidance and encouragement.

The workshop will be limited to 16 artists so everyone will receive plenty of personal guidance from Lisa. She will provide the U-art paper. You will need to provide your own pastels (though Lisa will happily share), and easel. We have tables if you prefer to work flat. We will be working from a photograph, which will be provided. It's a two-day workshop, and includes snacks, and Diane's famous healthy lunches both days.

Price for the workshop will be $310.

NOTE: If you have taken a workshop form Lisa before, you may paint from your own reference providing you send it to Lisa prior to the class for approval. This is to make certain you have enough visual information in your photo to have a successful result. Please email your reference to Lisa at LisaAOber@gmail.com by October 1st.

Bring your sense of humor, a willingness to try new things, all your questions, a passion for pastel portraiture, and be prepared to amaze yourself and others!
